Default 1 to 4 shift bypass , CAGS

First thing any driver should do is install one of these "CAGS bypass" units, IMHO, very easy to do , especially easy if you don't read the instructions that come with the unit as they were not helpful at all :-) , the instructions do not make it clear that the female CAGS connector (the connector part attached to the tranny) simply gets capped , and that cap first must be taken off the bypass unit I bought , ( I assume to keep it clean ) and then the "bypass unit" attaches to connector you pulled out of the CAGS , ( also it appears to me to 1-just keep it clean and 2-give you enough room to secure it to the handy little bolt hole in the area so as to not let it flop around, I am not sure it actually does any "bypassing" , probably same result if you just unplug the unit, but I may be wrong , anyway it "works" fine now, no more annoying 1 to 4 forced shift , I am free to make common sense gear selection at will, no more 1 to 4 bog down in traffic.

I had my tuner delete the 1-4 forced shift when I had my car dyno tuned. Tranny works great and car runs well!

The CAGS bypass is a very good, and cheap, mod to do to the car. It was the first thing I did when I had manual tranny C5s.

I'm looking into getting a 1.8k ohm resistor and a factory connected to build me own for less than $5. Problem is figuring out what the part number is for connected so I know what I need to pick up from autozone or advanced auto. If anybody has that info that would be awesome.

I pretty much always shift 1-4-6 unless I'm in heavy traffic which is rare

I just installed the cags bypass from Compliance yesterday. Instructions were very clear and I got it done with no trouble. I did skip step 3, which disables the dash light. Wasn't comfortable attempting that part and I didn't really care about the dash light. Just wanted the cags functionality disabled.

Is there anyway you can post the instructions or send them?

I'm not sure Compliance would want me posting their materials, but I don't see any reason I couldn't email it to you if you want to send me a pm with an email address
