Hope this is as simple as I think it is. Just bought the tail light and hood seals from Southern Car Parts and the hood seal isnt long enough to reach across the the entire surface where it is to be mounted. Do I just center the seal evenly in between or am I missing something.

It will stretch. Just start in the middle and work your way to each end.

I've bought two hood seals (each of my last C5s) and they have always been just the right length. You can try stretching the one you have and see if that will work, but I would do that before you remove the paper backing and actually affix it to the car.
Or call the vendor and ask them if that is how it is designed.
I put mine on week before last and had to trim about 1" off to make it fit. I would send it back and get another one. Don't stretch it, I will never fit correctly.
I had to cut about 5" off mine.. If I had kept it I could have mailed it to you! haha I called the vendor SCP and they were a bit surprised that it was that much too long. Maybe I got part of yours.. haha I'd call them and ask about it.

Never is a very long time. As I said in my earlier post, mine is stretched and it fits perfectly.
No, eterenity is a long time, my thinking is; if you have a piece of rubber with tape on the bottom side to keep it in place and you stretch it and press it down it seems to me it will not stay as well if you didn't stretch it. My instructions even states if the ends turn loose to use 3M tape to secure, so even the Manufacture seems a problem with the product over time. I don't care but for me just lay it down and stick it, I would't stretch it but your call.
Okay people, I called Southern and they informed me that they had accidently sent me a c-6 hoodliner seal. So I ordered the right one and considering that a few years have passed since I ordered the product I felt this was the proper manner to handle the situation. I remain happy with the company and the product. I do not believe stretching is the correct way to handle the situation as I would have had to stretch the dam thing at least 8 inches and that wasnt gonna happen. Thanks to all for the help and suggestions, this forum is great.
