Default Introduction and question

Hello everybody! I've been lurking on this forum for awhile, and I have found your insights very helpful, thank you. I have just purchased my first Corvette, and I pick it up on Friday. I bought a 2002 Z06, torch red ext/black int, bone stock with only 8700 miles on her. She is in showroom condition, and still has the new car smell. I took her to the local Chevrolet Dealership for inspection, and after looking at her for over an hour, the service manager shook the seller's hand and thanked him for taking such good care of such a beautiful machine. All the fluids are in great shape. I look forward to many years of enjoyment driving her, and hopefully getting together with fellow Corvette owners. I live close to Sacramento, and I go to the Bay Area often.

As I mentioned, the Z06 is bone stock, and I intend to keep her stock. She does come with a car cover, and a Z06 trunk divider. I have already ordered a LMC5, and a CAGS Skip from complianceparts. I am looking for any suggestions as to some must have or cool/useful non permanent accessories for my new "beautiful machine". I will post pictures of her once I get her home.

Sounds like it's ready to just be enjoyed. So just drive it when you get it.

Congrats on the new (to you) Corvette. Post some pictures when you get it.

I also am a big fan of keeping it stock. It makes it easy to find and fix problems. You may want to consider a oil catch can and a set of fangs.

Welcome. Great car. Of course I am a bit partial to TR Z06s with black interior. Mine is mechanically stock with a few minor appearance mods, installed by the previous owner.

I second the addition of the SacCity fangs.

Wishing you many happy (s)miles.

Congrats - sounds like you found a really pristine Z06. Enjoy your new ride. As for the mods - go to some shows or join a Vette club and take notice of what others have done. Talk to them and see which mods you may like.

Thanks for the suggestion on the fangs! I live 10 minutes from Sacramento, so I'll go pick them up in person if available. Keep the ideas coming!

When parking don't curb the car...can do lots of damage to the front end. Suggest to park back, way back of the curb as the car is only 15 feet long. You never will have the back end out in the drive. Until you get to know the car. Congrats on a great purchase/Corvette. Beautiful color, it has to be the nicest red on any car, love it. Wishing you many happy miles/smiles with your new baby. Greetings, Rob

Congrats on the Z06. You're going to be smiling each time you take it for a drive.
You may want to change the valve springs if it has not been done already. I changed them last week on my 2002 Z06 and now I can have peace of mind when driving. There is a sticky regarding this issue.
Definitely install the LMC5. How old are the tires?
It's my personal opinion but I would change all the fluids if they have never been changed.

I'm a big fan of getting an aftermarket exhaust. Otherwise, I'd say just drive and enjoy!

Congrats!

Welcome to the forum and the C5 family. As for "personalizing" your Vette, it all depends on what you and only you like. Congrats.

Welcome. There is nothing wrong with keeping the Z stock, it's a well put together car from the factory. But there are a few OE upgrades as well like C6 Z06 shocks and sway bars that are bolt in and still OE while being a noticeable upgrade.

So long as you drive it the way god intended (hard), that's all that matters. Enjoy it.

When I got my C5 about two and a half months ago, I was planning to keep it stock. After reading this forum a little bit, I decided that I was going to upgrade the exhaust but after that I would keep it completely the way that it was. With the exhaust, the car is much more fun to drive, which has made me want to go even farther, and I am going to have an intake and headers installed sometime soon.

Congrats on what sounds like a beautiful car, I can't wait to see photos! But it seems like even the best laid plans to leave these cars stock can go out the window after the mod bug hits.
