Just picked up my first vette 2 weeks ago. A 2002 z06 black on black with 94k miles. Bought it in houston.
It appears pretty much unmolested. The column lock has been done and it has a new ls7 clutch and accompanying stuff. Other than that not much done to it.
Long term I want a mild cam and LT headers thru stock exhaust with a cutout for optional mild/wild sound.
But first I want to kill some sound in the cab. I was looking at doing an insulation kit from Double Ds and a partition. My question is this: if I do the insulation kit, will I still need the partition?
And now for my vette story: when I was about 8 years old, my grandpa bought a 68 corvette convertible as a project car. I rode with him when he went to pick it up. We drove it home and I remember that the seats werent bolted down, cause when he hammered on it, both of our seats slid backwards. After that we, we would plan our weekends around working on the vette. Although we never finished the car and he sold it some years later, I was a vette fanatic from then on. I even had some collectible cards for every year model vette (still have them actually) .
Fast forward 25 years or so, and I finally have a vette of my own. Its an amazing car and plan on enjoying for many years.
Congrats on the buy! Maybe i'll see the car around town....
I'd still get the partition to eliminate the sound from the trunk area to the cabin of the car. The insulation kit will also help a lot and keep the car cooler, especially in the center console area.

My first Mod on my 2004 Z06 contacted Dennis at Double D and had my custom bezel done and sound insulation from him. Had my stereo guy gut my interior and put a great sound system in. Don't need the partion due to the sound deadening.

Congrats on your C5. Nice to make a long time dream come to reality.

Congratulations on your Covrette. Wishing you (all the way from Canada) many happy miles/smiles with your new baby, which by the way is a good looking baby. Greetings, Rob
If you are NOT aware of the value spring failures in the 2002 & 2003 Z's you might want to look into this even with the 94K miles ?
But I am sure you are.
I am aware but not sure if this was done to the car. However, the last owner of the car was Frank's son of Frank's Vettes. And the owner before that had all of the maintenance done at Frank's vettes. So the service records were there for everything since about 2008.
That being said, it seemed like they stayed on top of all of those types of things.
If I do a cam swap, that's probably a good time to change springs anyway.
Great car... Get rid of those Chinese Z06 replica's... they are very heavy and cumbersome. find some Speedlines, Alcoa's.... those wheels are dangerous. How do I know..?
My car when I bought it 9 yrs ago...
