Has anyone had any problems running caliper covers on there car? I am thinking of installing them on my C5. They are cheaper than buying powder coated ones.

If you do a search here you'll quickly find more negative reactions by a wide margin.
You may want to see them in person before you jump the gun. I've seen them and I have nothing nice to say, at all! Why not just paint your calipers rather than buying powder coated ones?

I painted mine with the VHT Caliper Painting Kit.....5 yrs ago and they are still holding up nicely !
POR15 and others make some great quality paint for calipers. Or if you are serious, pull them apart, get them powdercoated, rebuild them with fresh seals and pads and have NEW brakes all around.
Sure beats putting bad lipstick on a not so ugly pig.

Put a little Chapstick on the letters before you paint. After painting, the Chapstick allows the paint to come right off of the letters. After the letters are clean, apply clear over everything and you are done.

I would highly recommend you paint the calipers yourself instead of putting the covers on them. I think you would be totally pleased with the look and the cost.
No..u just need a small piece of sandpaper and a little patience and it is very easy. Just sand the red right off the raised letters....will look like u painted it on!!!!

I dont mind them at all. I think they look good. I've seen a few cars with them on and as an accessory is no different than anything else that can be done to the exterior.
If we are going for an effect, a cover is just as good as paint, I mean you know you are still not fooling anyone by painting your stock caliper and the cover does offer a smooth clean surface. Just another option.
Painting/powder coating the stock caliper is just making it pretty!
The whole point of Caliper covers is to make the stock calipers look like 'big boy calipers...period!
When I see them on a car I just have to just another guy trying to fool everyone!
But hey it's your car.
I also love 'wheelskins'.

Two different ways of achieving the same effect; to enhance the wheel area on a car. I dont think that anyone put covers hoping to fool others into thinking that they upgraded to big brakes, its just a different look and in some cars it doesn't look out of place. Just like any mod it can look good or out of place.
on a corvette, the covers don't look so out of place. Amatter of opinion and I do agree that ultimately it's up to you. I dont care for those metal covers on the tail lights or flooding the car with corvette symbols, or covering everything with plastic in the engine bay, but people do it and they feels good about it; are they also posing trying to fool people into thinking that their stock engines have 1000 hp worth of matching colored covers? Not really. Once again, I echo Jetz in stating that as long as it makes you happy....
never heard anybody having issues with installation or usage of the metal covers though.
I had them on my car for 3 years, took them off this year. not because I did not like them on the car but just wanted a diff. look. But I did paint them (red) my car is a blk. coupe. easy to do, take your time and it will come out just fine, painted the calipers and bracket. If you need red I have a set.
