OK, I've owned my C5 for 7 weeks now. Even though it is a manual, I drive it daily to work to downtown Boston. I have the luxury of being able to wait until rush hour traffic has subsided somewhat, so I don't deal with the worst bumper to bumper traffic. And there are days when I make the mistake of going into the Big Dig tunnel to breath the fumes of the trucks rumbling underneath Boston. I'll soon learn not to do that.
I grab every opportunity to drive somewhere. Yesterday I managed to be in rural Connecticut on business, driving past small farms, through hills, past lakes, and taking in seriously pretty countryside on a gorgeous sunny day.
Now 3,000 miles into this adventure, I am still in love. I park my car in the garage of a building that is the HQ of a very big bank where there are some really fancy cars. At the end of the day I walk to my car and know that I have, by far, the most beautiful car there. (Some days there is a red C6 GS vert parked there, in which case there is serious competition, but usually there is nothing close).
I have polished and cleaned this car more that I did my previous car of 7 years. It is a source of joy.
I just had to let it out here. Only you would understand. Now back to doing the dishes.
I'm w/u 100%...Got mine back in '99 & still don't use my car cover (even in winter) because I enjoy looking at it at every opportunity! Enjoy your C-5 & remember to "Save The Wave". . .
a month ago I bought my 1st corvette 03 zo6, my body has to move in ways it never did before to get in and out being a guy with a few extra pounds not easy , car has a ton of road noise, not the smooth luxury ride my big SUV has but
I'm loving every minute of it! find myself peeking at it well its in the driveway and my wife don't mind either since I'm running errands for her when I'm out of stuff to do just to drive it, use to cringe when I had to make a 30+ mile drive for business now i'm hoping for them
I am coming up on 1 year next week and I have to say I love it more now than the day I bought it. I've put about 7500 miles on it this year and taken some fun trips. Every time I walk out the garage I can't believe I have this car and yes I have the dreaded disease of looking back at it every time I park it. Already have some more trips scheduled for the next year. A huge bonus is my wife enjoys it as much as I do.
Congrats on your car and enjoy many more years and miles.
I share your love of all corvettes but I really love my 2003 Black vert. I bought it in April and I have put about 3000 miles on it so far. I still love my 1963 SWC, but there is no comparison in the ride and comfort between the two.
Here are a couple of photos:
My wife really didn't want me to get this car. She's only been in it once so far, but that was enough to soften her up so that instead of calling it "the cockroach," she now refers to it as "buttercup". She suggested going for a short ride in it tomorrow, so there's hope for her yet.

My wife was the same way when I first got my C5 vert. However, after I swapped out the run-flat tires and installed the Koni shocks and Z06 sway bars, she loved the ride.
I bought mine new 10 years ago last month and I'm still in love. This is the only car I've ever owned that I still stand and look at it when it's parked in the garage!
Yeah, I definitely stare at mine. It's a little bit nuts, but I can't help myself. I have to pinch myself to believe that I'm not dreaming and that I really own this thing.
I feel very sorry for the guy who sold it to me. He loved it as well and really didn't need to sell it. Now he's driving his Prius. Great mileage and all, but really . . . .
