Default New Steering Wheel?

Okay, I know my options are limited and I'm not asking for much.

I CANNOT replace my stock steering wheel with an aftermarket wheel that DOES NOT have an airbag. That is illegal in Australia.

I would be happy with my stock four-spoke wheel in addition to thumb rests, perhaps some additional padding and colour coordinated with my '03 AE Shale interior.

I also do not want to have to part with my present steering wheel for several weeks while any upgrade is being done and lose the use of my car.

I am willing to pay a core charge for a new steering wheel and then ship my present steering wheel back afterwards. Not a problem.

There must be a vendor out there who can accommodate me.

I await your replies.

I got mine from dsv. (Down south vettes) they do a core charge so you won't be without your steering wheel.

That's exactly what I am looking for! Thank you.

The wheel from DSV looks great.

I did the same thing (sorta)...

I contacted a few of the forum sponsor wrecking yards and found/bought a straight steering wheel, sans airbag. I think it was like $35 or so (it's been a few years now). Contacted DSV ahead of time and had the junk yard send the wheel directly to them. My finished wheel came to my house, swapped it out and sold my factory wheel on the forum when I was ready. No down time and no core charge to deal with. My wheel is all black with perforated leather inserts and contrasting stitch.

Something like this might be a better option for you if dealing with a USA company, I suspect shipping back and forth from Australia might get expensive.

That's a great looking steering wheel! I also have a DSV steering wheel with matching gray leather from Vette Essentials. However, now after seeing this steering wheel, you have me thinking...
