Default HUD Bezel Replacement

My HUD bezel finally cracked. Question is can the bezel itself be replaced or does the entire dash have to be replaced. I've seen the bezel for sell so I'm guessing it can be replaced by itself. If so is it a simple snap out the old one and snap in the new one, or dose the dash have to come out to replace it?

Thanks.

The bezel can be replaced if you can find one, The dash pad will have to come off.

I have done this replacement SEVERAL times for people.... Whole pad has to come out. The bezel screws in from the underside with 4 nuts on plastic studs.

Pulling the dash pad is not that hard, I have helped many people (DIY novices) how to do it. I have a great link I can provide later when I get home. Please remind me if I fail to post. Much easier than most cars in fact.

You've got your answer above - best of luck in pulling the dash cover and installing a new bezel.

Here is the dash pad removal link. Just bag and tag the various fasteners.

Is there an apron or oversized bezel available that will cover over the vinyl, mine is pulling away from the OEM bezel. I am eventually going to have to pull it, just trying to get some ideas on how to cover the vinyl edges.

I have the same issue, What I had to do was install a Dash Mat.

I did install it, it wasn't too terribly hard. The new bezel does not cover the hole all the way though.

Did you install the retro bezel and you are saying you still have a little gap?

We sell OEM HUD Bezels and provide the retaining washers. No one includes the washers and you will need them.

Thanks, I would have thought retro guys would have made it a little larger. They could sell more.

Too many links to non-supporting vendors.

Okay to mention non-supporting vendors - not okay to provide links and prices.

FWIW, it is possible to install the new one without pulling the dash. You need to trim the tabs off the back edge to get it to drop into place, plus a couple strips of double-stick foam to hold it down.

(Whether you can get the old one off from the top is another question: mine was in so many pieces at that point, it wasn't attached to anything by the time I got the dash off. Nor am I entirely sure it was the original one anyway. But it's worth a try, since you're replacing it, and worst case you'll just have to pull the dash and do it the hard way.)

do a search on e-bay for hud retrofit bezel. I purchased one for $99.00 or search www.c5hudbezel.com. It fits perfect, was an easy installation and looks factory.
