Default New tires need advice

So I bought my 03Z with brand new Bridgestone potenza re760 tires. Not a bad looking tire but I'm not happy with them. I was wanting to put stock size tires back on but other than these bridgestone tires the only ones I have found are Michelin pilots and unfortunately I don't have the funds to get the Michelins. Anybody have suggestions. Do they make our stock tire sizes in the Nitto 555's? If so where do u find them? Btw it's a weekend street car, looking for good dry/wet grip and cornering. Don't need dr's.

What don't you like about the 760s? I have a set on order to replace my original goodyears from 2002. It appears that at this time they are the only tires made in stock sizes for a Z06! I think down the road I'll be buying wheels and tires if I can't find stock sizes

I have the RE760s on my daily driven GTO and they seem to work well.

I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports on my '03 Z06 and I'd recommend them as well.

I've had no problem with either selection.

I would have though the Super Sports would be way better than the 760s?? To bad they don't make the Super Sports in stock sizes

For the price they aren't bad at all. They look ok and perform decent. I just wanted a little more aggressive and better handling tire. It blows my mind there's such a small selection of stock size tires for a C5Z.

I would imagine, for the price difference, they would perform much better. I just can't pay that kind of money for tires right now. I drove a challenger the other day with Michelin pilots and they ride very well.

Is there any other size options like maybe 245/45/17 up front?

They might be close in regular driving, but get closer to the limits and that is where the RE760's will fall short.

For its day, the stock GY F1 Supercars were amazing tires (except in standing water). They are one of the reasons that the C5 Z06 was able to achieve over 1g on the skid pad.

However, now they are aged and I am not sure they are even made anymore in stock sizes.

I'm getting my Z in a couple weeks and the first mod for me will be ordering a custom sized CCW SP500 wheels in a 18/19 combo size with stock dimensions in all other areas. Then I plan on wrapping them with the Advan Neova AD08R tires in 265/35/18 F & 295/30/19 R.

This combo will provide the closest to stock dimensions/look, just up sized and also provides lots of alternatives for tires.

Sounds like a good como...I was actually eyeing the sp500s as well, but I was thinking 19s on all four corners with 275/30s front and 305/30s rear. Looks like several tires available in those sizes including the Super Sports..

Hankook RS3v2 255/40/17 and 285/35/18 is the best tire for stock c5z wheels right now.

Those are a great looking tire. Those particular sizes will not compromise anything with traction control, speedometer, etc.?

No TC issues since front and rear are both slightly shorter than stock, speedo will read about 1mph higher than stock but it's not really a big deal. I doubt you'd ever notice the difference, I sure don't with my slightly taller than stock 305's.

I was thinking about doing the 275/305 route as most do with the CCW's, but since I plan on mine being a daily driver, I want the standard width for hydroplaning purposes. Also I lose the option to go with the Advan's

Also stock look is pretty flush and I also don't want the rear to stick out any more than stock, looks kind of funny to me and you will have more rock chips to the paint.

Its all personal preference, but I think the stance stock is good (minus the 4X4 look, but that is a lowering issue). Just need to upsize for better size options

Sounds good I may go that route. Will the 255 fit ok on the front wheel? I have aftermarket wheels but they are exact same size as stock.

They fit and look good, there was a guy at autocross running them last weekend on stock wheels in the 255/285 sizes. Looked great and he smoked me too

One size up from OEM is no big deal.

I just tried to get the Nitto NT05s and could not find them available. Didn't want to spend the money for Michelins so I ordered the 760s. Even the Michelins from Discount were very hard to find and he was going to get them from a special supplier. They were willing to match Costcos price with rebate of $1550 but $850 sounded a heck of a lot better. At least for my first set on this car.
