Drives me nuts when I see an area where it looks like something should be there. Anybody know what these 2 threaded holes are for?
P.S. I have looked at 100's of pictures, but just can't get one where I can zoom in enough to see....
Really I have no clue. Mine has it also. Could have been a originally designed mounting point for something in development stage and was omitted or re designed in production cars. This happens a lot because the parts have to be manufactured long before the vehicle goes on sale but the development never stops, even after first cars are sold.

I asked a cousin of mine who's an engineer at GM and he said those are definitely the mounting holes for the Flux Capacitor. An invention conceived by Dr. Emmett L. Brown on November 5, 1955 which makes time travel possible when you reach 88mph.
The Johnson rod is altogether different and only needs one mounting hole located in the front.

Mounting location for throttle cable actuator, although the Johnson rod option is intriguing.
Sorry I am confused as usual. Why do most of us not have this part but you do? Are we missing something we should have or was this an unimplemented feature or....???

Ok after thinking about it I think this picture must be an LS1 engine but not from a Corvette as Corvettes are drive by wire
