Hi folks. I purchased a CD changer from a fellow forum member. I wanted to check the unit, so I pulled the existing changer from my Z06 and installed the new changer. The new changer "came alive" and went through the CD checks. But it wouldn't play or respond to my repeated pushing of the "AUX" button on the stock head unit. I tried changing magazines, made sure all the CDs were positioned properly, etc. I even tried plugging and unplugging the wiring harness. I did get an "Err" message once, but most of the time I saw the CD message flash, then eventually FM would come on. At one point, the "AUX" button had no effect but the head unit would play the CD in the unit. At no time did the 12 disc changer play anything. I pulled it out and reinstalled the old unit - it worked just fine.
Is there something that I missed? Does the 12 disc changer need special programming to work with the head unit? Or is the changer trashed, and I just bought a boat anchor? The fellow who sold it to me claimed that it was "in perfect working order." Thanks for your help!
What year is your car? Do you have the cassette player on the in-dash radio? Try pushing the Tape button instead of the Aux button and see if that provides music from the 12-Disk player.
