I have a 2002 Z06 with MTI intake, C1 cam, off road x-pipe, pulley, PCM reprogram, TPIS headers and Borla Stinger. Have a set of MTI Stage II heads on the way too. WIll I benifit from adding 30 # injectors? If so, will the PCM have to be reprogramed again? How much for the injectors and where to get them?
Re: 30# injectors...Do I need them? (MillenniumVette)
Wow with all that stuff you Z must be really quick. I guess your not worried about warranty issues? Just commenting, I don't know anything about what you asked. :jester
Not really worried about warranty. Started moding at 680 miles... Although have already had the clutch replaced under waranty, so go figure. The car is fast, but it's just never fast enough.....
Re: 30# injectors...Do I need them? (MillenniumVette)
Short answer is yes. The stock injectors are running as much as 90% duty cycle on a stock motor - with your mods you should go with 30's and tune them in.
Re: 30# injectors...Do I need them? (MillenniumVette)
I used SVO 30# injctors, you can get them through Summit, Jegs as well as some of the forum vendors - it pays to shop :)
You will need to dial in the A/F with the larger injectors with either LS6Edit or a MAFT. Otherwise with the larger injector getting the same pulse width message from the ECM you will likely run way rich.
Ok, so I guess the SVO's are a direc plug in? I have already paid $500 to have the PCM reprogramed once,so not sure I want to just stick a MAFT on it. How much are they and where did you get yours? I am not sure I would want to start messing around with LS1 edit either....
Re: 30# injectors...Do I need them? (MillenniumVette)
Ouch on the $500! Yes the 30's are plug and play but I do not recommend changing injectors without changing the tuning. If whoever did your tuning is very good it is possible to stay the way you are, a wideband 02 dyno with a scanner as well will tell you if you are getting enough fuel. If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)
Well see there's the problem....it defintely aint broke!!! I talked to Jeff at MTI and he said the stock injectors are fine for a heads and cam car. He said that his personal 422 stroker Z06 had stock injectors..... I guess I would like to see an example where someone gained HP while changing nothig but the injectors on a heads and cam car...

Dale- ive been wondering the same thing. i think im going to go ahead and upgrade the injectors just to be safe- MTI should re-tune the car when you put the heads on, just have them throw the injectors on at the same time ;)

Kevin,
Perfect! You just go ahead and do it hen let me know how it turns out!!! ;)
Re: 30# injectors...Do I need them? (MillenniumVette)
I have an MTI stage 2 package with stock injectors on my 01 ZO6. The car runs fine on the street and on the track. Actually it goes like a bat out of hell. Jeff knows what he's doing and I don't think he would send out a motor that would go lean. It may be just a matter of increasing fuel pressure. I think you are probobly ok. I would however like to see some performance comparisons.
