Why do you drive a Corvette?
I know this much for sure.....we love going to Colorado and riding our Harley in the mountains.
She had a 73 big block 4 spd car, but wouldn't drive it cause she couldn't see out.....we sold it last week.
Now we are having a blast taking off on little road trips in the C5.......affordable, good looking, fast, great gas mileage, dependable, a/c, descent cd player, trunk space......LIFE is GOOD.. and I don't have to work on it "bonus"
We decided that we were not going to quit living to stay alive.....
That's why we are driving a C5 corvette, she LOVES driving this 6spd........ ( I believe the best corvette ever built)
I hope we can drive this thing till the wheels fall off.........
Life is short.....hunt hard and drive a vette!

I had to wait for things to line up right for me to find and buy my Corvette but I drive it for much the same reasons as you.
Keep on keeping on.
I drive a vette because I have always wanted one and think they are the coolest cars ever.
I had a 63 vert. way back and 68, had to sell because the insurance got so expensive after a speeding ticket and being 18 years old.
Found a 99 vert. 6 speed on this forum in 2009 and have been enjoying it ever since.
The commodious trunk is overlooked, but the ability to pick up a pal, load his golf clubs on top of mine and zoom off to a golf course is a big advantage of the Corvette. In fact, seeing a couple of guys do that at the end of a round two years ago is what first got me thinking . . . Why not a Corvette? Until then, the Boxster was the car of my dreams. (I've always wanted a convertible.)
The other selling point IMO is the dependability factor, which is linked to the overall cost of ownership. Others on this forum complain about the cost of taking the car to the "stealership". I have no problem bringing this car to the local GM dealer for service. I just like to imagine what it would cost to bring the Boxster to the Porshe dealer, and I feel warm and fuzzy inside. And so far, my only trip has been for an oil change. The car has been very dependable and rides like a new car even though it is 10 years old.
Enjoy your car to the max. It's a great, great vehicle. And the bike too, but be careful!
Plan for tomorrow, live for today. No regrets.
Plan for tomorrow, live for today. No regrets.
Will never forget the first time I saw a white C5 coupe with black interior. My GOD was that a beautiful car. I have never had concerns about how fast it was...it just was the epitome of a dream car.
After many years God has blessed me with the means of being able to have exactly what I fell in love with. Many personal trials and tribulations over the years...and some going on now. That alone makes me be thankful for all of the blessings I have been given that I definitely don't deserve.
Mine isn't the most perfect specimen. It isn't "low mileage" by some interpretations of what "low mileage" truly is. It wasn't/isn't going to be a garage queen. But I have what the good Lord wanted me to have, and I know that many others may not ever have that opportunity.
I simply cherish the feeling of driving...MY VETTE.
I've seen it said many times on this forum (and I really can't agree with it more): life is too short. Enjoy it while you can.

All the Luck to you two
About 6 months ago we bought our 2000 Vert and I am loving everything about this one...Just love driving it.

Good for you. Best wishes to you both for fun and joy.
We're all on borrowed time, and must do some of what you are doing.
Or else, what's the point?
I drive Corvette, because it's a hoot to drive. I loved my C4, and put 75,000 miles on, traveling all over the country. Think I had it in over 30 states. C5 is even more fun to drive. I often sit around and think of excuses just to drive it somewhere. And, I'm always planning 'next' road trips and adventures. If I did not have this car, I'd fly much more, and then get rental cars.
Leaving a 'low mileage' C5 Corvette to my sons; is NOT on my bucket list...

We had two Vettes in our life, a 69 and a 79 that we had sold by 2000 so that I was Vetteless for 12 years. But I always remembered how much I loved driving our Vettes and as the years clicked by, I wanted another. I wanted a car that, no matter how old it gets, folks still look at it with some admiration and a little envy. I wanted a car I could get in and out of as the years click by (that eliminated C4s). And I didn't want to break the bank cause this Vette is strictly a toy (that left out C6s). I like the C5 cause they look great, have the LS engine and rear mounted trans and they can kick butt at a traffic light
relax.

Don't have it yet but I will one day.... and keep my C5 of course!
Always loved Corvettes
Peter
I had several new and used corvettes over the years and they still put a smile on my face when I start the engine. I just love the feeling I get from driving and working on them(Corvette Fever). I caught it young
