Default Exhaust comparisons?

Hey guys.. maybe you can help me find the right exhaust for me based on my desire.

I drive a C5Z & I currently have Kooks LT & Xpipe on the car (catless)-- accompanied by the stock Ti exhaust

I like how it opens up (sound wise) when I get on the throttle-- but it's just TOO quiet / close to stock sound when I'm cruising IMO.

I don't want OBNOXIOUS loudness or overpowering drone but I do want something considerably more aggressive without asking to get pulled over every 5 seconds.

In your experience, what would you suggest/say about exhausts I should look into?

I'd be willing to trade my stock Ti's for something as well.

Thanks in advance!

I'd modify the stock Ti, I put those on mine without headers just stock coupe. They don't drone at all, sounds stock still until you get on it and then it sounds like a Corvette should. They are light weight compared to aftermarket and will keep the stock look and quality.

Give a listen to the Corsa Extreme (just my opinion) - it has a nice aggressive idle - sounds amazing at WOT and does not drone.

Exhaust is pretty objective so you will get a MILLION opinions.

Before I made my choice I spent hours listening to you tube videos.

check out what Corsa offers for the C5. I have the Indy Pace Cars (now called Sport) on mine and it sounds incredible.

I have to agree Corsa Extreme here - long tubes planned.

In fact I just stuck a aFe Cold Air on the Jeep and I'm sticking a Corsa db on it tomorrow night. They sound really nice.

You can have a real conversation or listen to the sound system at highway speeds - but get on it with WOT and you swear you have a C5 R from Pratt and Miller underneath you.

I agree I have LG long tube headers with high flow cat's with LG's x pipe, into Corsa indy axel back exhaust, they are just perfect IMO. only loud when I want them to be...and very little to zero drone on the hwy..hell I can even listen to the radio at level 5 and not even hear my exhaust..lol..I love them...

Thanks man! Is it that significant of a difference, though? I've heard it's more of a hassle than to just swap it out for another system.. I guess it depends what the desire is..

Thanks man. How would you compare Corsa to Borla? I've been listening to quite a few Borla YT videos lately...

Damn! I didn't know Corsa was in such high demand here. How would you compare it to Borla? Loudness & sound...

It was a good value for money for me, I only paid $100for the exhaust, $60 for the titanium pipe and $300 for the welder to weld the pipe in and weld the exhaust back together and installed it myself. I would say it's similar in loudness to the Corsa extreme because it is basically the same concept once modified. The exhaust runs through the muffler when there isn't much force behind it but the exhaust will take the easiest path which is just straight through the bypass and limited muffler under higher revs. Not quite straight pipe loud though as the bypass I installed is only 1.5in diameter will the tip is a 2in pipe and the over-axle part is 2.5in so some exhaust will always go through the muffler. Hope this makes sense. If you don't care about price the corsa is definitely a good choice though.

Hi Chris, I have Kooks headers on my2004 Z06 When the New Borla exhaust came out SType 2 and the Atak the price was high but I waited a while and bought it at Maryland speed great price. I have the S type 2 deep tone loud no drone. I had the Corsa on my other C5 but for me I personally prefer the Borla. Try to find someone with this on there car. Awesome exhaust.

There are really only two choices of aftermarket exhausts for no drone and level of loudness at cruising speeds: any of the Corsa line, and GHL Bullets. I have the GHL Bullets and they have a nice low rumble during normal driving, no drone whatsoever, and sound great when I put the pedal through the floor while rowing through the gears.

Damn! So many options. Two questions for you:

1) Why do you rule out the borlas?
2) Do you have any sound clips of yours along with a mod list?

Borlas are well-known for their extreme drone. I've heard them and they sound horrible. Sorry, but I don't have any sound clips, and the only drivetrain mod I have is a CAI.

Here are a couple of GHL Bullet sound clips from YouTube-

Personally I like the deep sound of the GHLs, but Corsa sound good as well. It's all about personal preference. And good luck finding any GHLs laying around. I'm in the market for a pre-China manufactured set. I've emailed GHL & they're supposedly, "going to start selling C5 catback sets again in the coming months."

Kinda figure I'd rattle his cage with another email around New Years & see if there's any progress. If not, then I'm going with Corsa Extremes.

I got lucky and found a set of pre-China GHL Bullets on Craigslist the same day I started looking for them.

I too have had contact with the GHL owner and was told that he is actively getting the manufacturing set back up here in the U.S., but that it would take several months (this was a few months ago) because of the technical aspects (design, prototypes, etc.).

Hi Chris, I do not have a sound clip of my Borla. The exhaust that I'm talking about is not the Stinger. That DRONES bad. A lot of people do not have this SType 2 exhaust the latest one from Borla. I bought this exhaust without even hearing it because I could not find anyone with it. I Had GHL on my Z06 and sold them poor quality. But that's another story.

I too have the SType 2 and love them on my 2002. Just added Headers yesterday and now has a deeper tone at idle and louder when I want it to be. No drone cruising around.
