I had done some research and found some part numbers and ordered the part I needed and picked it up at NAPA
......drove the 25 miles home and guess what.....yup, it wouldn't fit. This is the second time that parts that are supposed to fit a 97 to 04 C5 would not work....the other was a CAI off of a 2000 coupe.....the MAFs were different sizes and the 2000 had an extra plug......
Anyway I went to our local machine shop and they had a 3/4" copper washer that they reamed out to fit my detent.....after 75 miles of back and forth I got it put in......... Made a big difference in ease of shift and smoothness.....next step is to change to Synthetic fluids in the trans and diff.........

The car is a 2004... I only used one.....but, it was about half again as thick as the 65277
so it was like using 1 1/2 of the 65277 washer. Seems to be just right.
To avoid future issues, keep in mind that 97-00 parts do not necessarily work on 01-04 models. The air intake system is a perfect example of this. The intake manifold is another. There are even differences in parts from one model year to the next, such as the fuel filters. Always research prior to buying any parts to make sure they will fit your specific model year.

Yeah......I'm kinda of a slow learner but, I am starting to get it......
I put 2 on my 01 stock shifter and saw no difference so i pulled them off. I was told that my results or lack of may be because i had a stock shifter, go figure.

It made some difference on my C6 shifter and I like it but it's not huge.
