Default C5 Partition for Coupe Question

For you folks that have installed these, did you notice a change in ambient cabin noise? Are you glad you did it, would you do it again in your next Vette?

Thanks in advance for taking the time to share your experiences.

I've got one and I like it, but I'm really glad it's easy to remove when necessary... sometimes an extra inch or two in one direction or another matters when you're loading up for a trip.
As far as a noise goes, I'm not sure it makes all that much difference. If the horizontal cover was semi-rigid and carpeted, maybe, but there's still a lot of noise bounced up off the back window, not to mention what gets transmitted up the B-pillars. I do notice that the rear speakers sound better with the partition installed.

Rear speakers sound quite a bit better.

I installed mine specifically for noise reduction. It was the last of many things I had done. I do think there was improvement but it was not overwhelming. As said already it is handy to keep things behind the seats.

i bought my partition from Vettenuts. I dont have a picture but it's really high quality, black carpet with plexiglass in the middle with the C5 colored logo. As far as sound noise I noticed a small reduction in noise and speakers do sound better, but I mainly use it to store things and keep close in reach.

Default C5 Partition for Coupe Question

Great info. I hadn't considered the impact on improving the sound from the rear speakers.

I've done quite a few things myself to improve the interior sound of my car, and thought this might be a final touch. I love the feel and sound of this machine at full throttle, but I also want to have conversation that doesn't require a lot of repeats on some of the long cruises I take.

I've gone from the Corsa Indy, to the Z06 Ti, and now to the Callaway DD exhaust. The Callaway is just right for me. I've stripped out the interior, installed the premium sound deadening kit, as well as dynamatting the bulk of the floorpan and doors.

All of this has been done with the intention of installing some new electronics, if I can get the platform in a condition to be able to enjoy the improved sound. Between the changes already made, coupled with improving the imaging from the rear speakers, a partition may be just the thing that pushes this decision into the To Do column.

Thanks fellas. As always, I really appreciate being able to tap in to the real world experience represented here on the forum.

Finally, any additional pictures of installations and vendor products?

We make these in house and they are excellent for holding storage and some sound reduction. For the Z06/FRC it seals off completely reducing sound and road noise drastically. Here are a few pictures along with our VetteBins.

You can find them on our web site located here: VetteBins and Partitions

Thanks Marc. I have been very pleased with your sound deadening kit, and front air dam.

What does a fella have to do to get your Partition / Bin setup in Shale?

We can not get the shale carpet in flex form. The only option for a partition would be pleather. Trying to do a Vettebin in pleather would be extremely time consuming. I suppose we could tackle it if the price was right.

Well, you do have to pay a man for his time, right?

I just don't think light oak is going to be close enough to look right with the rest of the neutral / shale colors in my Commemorative Edition. If you like, send me a PM and lets start the discussion.

Exotic Vettes has one in Shale (pleather), but it is just a partition without bins. I do admire your setup with the partition / bin combo.

Thanks again to everyone for their contribution. As expected, I learned something I didn't know prior to my post.

Marc,

In your second picture it looks like the partition is butted up against the floor mounted holders (? forget what they're called) for the targa top. Can it be moved farther toward the front if the VetteBin isn't there, or is that a fixed location?

The light oak will not match at all and stand out like a sore thumb. I will talk to my lead fabricator to get his input on time to do it in pleather.

They are the targa top cups, this is how we set them and there is no issue with the top storage. You could push it forward without the VetteBin being there.

The targa storage is what I was concerned about. Can you match the light grey in the early models? Mine is an '00 and I'm finding many can't match it.

We have been selling our partitions, sub boxes and Vettebins in grey for years with no complaints about the carpet matching.
