Question. I was running Mobil 1 High mileage. But I last bought the Mobil 1 Extended mileage. Does the Mobil 1 Extended mileage have the same or higher zinc levels as the high mileage?

No.
Mobil 1 High Mileage 1100 ppm zinc, 1000 ppm phosphorus. Mobil 1 Extended Performance (which is labeled to meet API SN) is 900 ppm zinc, 800 ppm phosphorus.
I use any 5W30 oil that meets or exceeds the GM4718M specification. When oil change time comes I just buy whatever is on sale meeting that spec. I've used Mobil 1 Synthetic, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge and Quaker State Ultimate. All these oils are more than adequate.
Yes, the new GM oil specification is now Dexos 1. But you will still find reference to GM4718M on the back of the bottle for the oils that actually went through the original certification process.

Thanks for that info I haven't used the Extended Performance yet, so I'll go back to the High Mileage M1.
just want some honest opinion on oils ppl are using are there corvettes now a days ....
Being that Mobil 1 no longer has Zinc in it i wanted to know if anyone stop using it and what oil did the change to.
Hello... Since you are asking, I have used Mobil1 since my first vette a '78, then an '82 CE, '93 Ruby, and '03 Z, and my 05 SSR. I also use Mobil 1 in everything that has an internal combustion engine. Tractors, mowers, washer etc.
The only people that will find this possible are those who use Mobil 1, I change the oil and filter once every year OR two. I just changed oil in my wife's Soltice last week and the mileage between was 26,000 miles. Usually the mileage is between 18k and 20k. With 4 two seaters ( 3 convertibles) I don't like crawling on the floor at my age. This is alot of miles but I wouldn't hoodwink anyone. And it does NOT use any oil
between... If you find something that works, why use something else!!
It's getting pretty cold in GA and I think my car can feel it. I believe the dealership changed it last with OEM spec Mobil 1 oil. Don't know the viscocity but I imagine it's on point with the manufacturers specs.
Do I need to drain this and replace it to better protect my engine for these cold months?
I put Redline 5w30 Full Synthetic in my car which I bought 6 months ago. I've been putting that oil in my 03 Chevy Avalanche that I bought new nearly 12 years ago. (Did use M1 once and RP once.) I put a Vortech supercharger on that truck around 210-220 k-miles. Truck (and engine) now has 290K miles. As noted its high ZDDP content isn't good for catalytic converters - I've had to replace those twice. The vette's converters were removed by a previous owner.
Oil changes in the truck previous to SC install were at OLM intervals, usually around 8k miles. Been changing the oil at 6k intervals since installing the SC. (Vortech recommends 3k oil change intervals.)
