The Jan issue of Corvette Magazine The Fifth Generation Approximate Base Values Guide states the FRC '99 values are up 3%! The 2000 FRC up 2%. Yea FRC's!
I read that mag, and they are not bashful about being fans, as befits a mag titled, Corvette.
The values are often in conflict with my understanding, they seemed to be cherry picked to support the everything vettes are good story, but I was only in the market a short while to buy a used car and am far from an expert. That being said, nobody would seek to buy a mag telling them a bunch of bad news, and these selling prices always make me feel that I am a wise consumer, and sometimes I learn something.
I don't dispute the numbers, and am always glad to see any indication that C5 prices have hit bottom and are going up.
The title sucked me in. The market ebbs and flows but an upward trend is inevitable. Limited production numbers and cars being totaled out will deplete the numbers of well cared for examples. The demand will remain constant because people who love the FRC, reallllllly love the FRC. Not everyone "gets it" but the FRC really just looks right to us. It's one of those "if you have to ask, you wouldn't understand" kind of things. I've often wondered if the C2 guys have similar discussions with the two distinct body styles after having years of only the roadster body.
This is my third C5 and the FRC is truly a great looking car and in my opinion the best looking C5 out there! I get way more compliments on this FRC than I ever did and none Corvette owners just love the lines of the car not knowing what it is and the difference in models ! Yes I do miss my Targa but when I look at the lines it makes me not miss it as much and will not go back to a Targa .
