It is generally agreed that the Vararam provides the best performance gain, but there has been issues with the fitment in the past. The Callaway Honker is another good choice.

Lots of info and opinions on CAI on here. After reading many, many posts I went with the Vararam as well. Blackwing was my second choice, I wanted to stay away from that double filter look, just not to my liking is all.

If you're in an emissions testing area, just go with a K&N since it's 50 state legal. I run a K&N on my car and have nothings but positive things to say. Made as much (and more in most cases) power than those using various others with similar mods. All basically the same IMO.

Any system you chose has to be able to pull cold air from the outside. Otherwise, they provide no advantage at all.
The Vararam system is a true Cold Air system which is why it traditonally provides the best results. It will not help you until you get moving, since it is the cold air ingestion that makes the difference in the air/fuel mixture, thus providing better combustion.

Vararam is a good choice - a PITA to install but a good intake for gains

If your looking for the best bang for the least dollars spent, it would be to install a K&N filter, remove the top cover or just cut the top cover or use a hole saw, or flip the factory housing and pull cold pressurized air from the radiator/AC intake and put a smooth tube coupler to the intake in place of the factory accordion one. As was mentioned earlier, the HP gain is seat of the pants noticeable but it depends on what you want to spend or if you are going for a particular look, your call and good luck with the mod!! The upside to this is that it's still a factory part modded and smog legal !
