stock airbox mod
I am considering doing some type of mod on my stock air box to allow more air in. Any advice on best way to accomplish this and will i have an issue with water injestion. Pictures would be great. Thanks for your opinions

I've heard of someone cutting a large square out of the stock box for an improvised CAI with a square K&N filter. The water concern can be overcome using foam weather strip to seal the gap at the front of the hood where it meets the nose clip. I used 5/16 thick strip from Advance Auto. Have not had any issues with water injestion even in hard rain. I also have a Vararam air bridge I got from Corvette Mods on eBay for $99. It moves the MAF closer to the throttle body for a "cleaner" read.

There are several methods you can do to increase the air intake. One is the zip tie mod (see PDF file below). Another is to buy the lid from a 2002-2004 Z06 - it has a larger opening in front than the stock LS1 air lid does. You could also consider drilling some holes in the air box lid. If you open up the air box by doing the zip tie or drill holes in the box, then I would recommend you get a hood seal to keep water from getting into the airbox.
