Default Door cracks behind hinges

Looking for recommendations and or suggestions for repair of these cracks, from those who have dealt with same. This is the passenger door, worst of the two. Had already bought new hinges for both sides thinking it was the problem with the creaking... Not the case. Thx for looking and your comments...

Note: bottom hinge is first seen top hinge follows.

Are those spider cracks? If so you can take a pencil grinder to them, just grind down the minimal amount and then fill back in.

Yes the bottom hinge appears to be a series of spider cracks, cannot see behind the glass as the metal reinforcement plate obscures the view of the inside... Thus No idea what it looks like from the back side. The top hinge is truly cracked, about 1 inch long and 1/16 deep. When the door would open or close, it had a true "clunk" sound in two positions. Body shop is suggesting open the cracks a light bit, and filling with SMC epoxy and tying the inside plate to the door frame in two more positions (notwithstanding the four bolts for the hinges) just cannot get a picture of the inside....

How common is that? Is that from opening the door too far, too fast, and hitting the end of the travel, stressing that area too much?

From what I've learned, folks throwing the door open... Having seen the interior construction and how the C5 support structure is configured, there are allot of problem C5 doors awaiting discovery.

Did you unhook the door wiring harness inside the kick panel area and remove the front fender to be able to remove the door completely?

The pics are of the door removed. It was removed by taking the bolts from the hinges which presently remain on the body. The fender was not removed.
