I mostly use Techron concentrate or sometimes Techron fuel injection cleaner(which has Techron in it).Since Chevron pulled out of Va., I mostly use Exxon 93 which is supposed to have Techron in it...

No, Exxon gas does not contain Techron.

"You can get Techron® already added to gasoline exclusively from Chevron, Texaco and Caltex stations."

Techron is a brand name , first developed when Porsche was having problems with a new turbo engine, way back when a turbo car of any make made every auto magazine cover.

It is my understanding that comparable additive packages are included in all gasoline labeled "top tier" ,indeed I think it part of the definition of the top tier label.

Additionally, I can buy Seafoam all day long in California, to again needlessly correct another post. I do not know if it is the same product sold elsewhere.

I will stand corrected on the availability of Seafoam In Ca.. back when I was working 14 years ago and California was going through their smog certifications, Seafoam was not available on the shelves and conventional wisdom was that In its application, the amount of smoke from a properly applied Seafoam treatment was against the smog cert levels in CA... After some research today, It appears that Seafoam is not illegal.. there is some reference to a new formula from the bronze formula of old that may have been the issue at the time, I apologize for offering non-factual current information..

Some good info here, opinions, knowledge and experience. Strand Rider, I wasn't posting because I had a problem, I just wanted to solicit some feedback. Like you I like to just learn for the sake of learning, keep that knowledge up my sleeve until one day I may need it. Also, believe me, I take all of the "advice" on any forum with a grain of salt, but I have to say there are some pretty credible people on here whose opinions I respect. ET, thanks for the input, I think my own opinion changed somewhat and am leaning towards using it for the "soak and blow it out" method and abandoning the gas additive claims, although SailBill had it fix the dreaded fuel gauge problem by adding it to the tank (I assume). I fill up exclusively at Chevron, and never put in any additional Techron. Should I?

Seems nobody had anything bad to say, and most agreed that putting it in the crankcase was ill advised. Maybe for synthetic oils, although I am quite convinced that in an old engine it can clean a lot of the gunk/varnish out of the crankcase, oil galleries and valve train.

I have used it for my cars with carburetors, just never with fuel injection. I put it in the fuel tank, crankcase, and sucked it up the vacuum line until it choked out, running it half an hour later, but overnight seems to be the recommendation. The areas where I "felt" it solve problems were clattering valves, detonation, rough cold idle, and help me pass the emissions test. It wasn't ever used as a frequent additive but as a one time fix.

Others had tangible results as well, Acroy - with several issues addressed, albeit with a similar product. So all in all it doesn't seem like snake oil and there are real benefits to using it.

Well...then I have been mis-informed once again...so now at least I know now that I am not doing the overkill thing when I get Exxon 93 and ad a bottle of Techron concentrate every other tank full... Might as well go back to BP/Amoco premium and add a bottle of Techron
And no I am not wasting my money..... because I bought a ton of Techron concentrate(large bottles) when it was buy one get one free

I used in the fuel and oil in my 95 a couple of times. It has about 138k miles and it seemed to smooth it out and run better afterward. When I put in oil, I do it not long before I chnage oil. So it cleans it out, and then I get rid of it. Have not done the vacuum, as I have red it takes two people to keep it running, but would probably be most beneficial. I have ony used Techron in c5.

Default SeaFoam

My mechanic used it to resolve my pinging issue. However, it didn't work. Still have pinging issue. he applied it thru the PVC hose. I don't think he used any in the gas tank.
