One of my good friends stopped by a couple of weeks ago (C7&7 on the forum)... What a great car!!! He would have let me drive it, but I was like, man it looks too nice!! Maybe once he's had it awhile. He's got BIG plans for it....!
Acceleration feels about equal, but if you hit the C7 at the right point, the automatic snaps the downshift and the power is instant. A different perception you get when you clutch-downshift and then accelerate in my C5 Z06. But it does seem equal when comparing straight pull G's once your in the gears power range for each car.
Handling of the C7 is tighter and a bit "twitchier" on center. It would take a bit more driving to completly get used to. Braking seems better in my C5.
My Z06 has headers, high flow cats, CAI and a tune. I also have Baer Eradispeed rotors.

I regularly track my (heavily modified) C5. I went to a Hooked On Driving event this year and had an opportunity to drive the C7 Z51 7sp. MT on the track.
My initial response was that it was quite. I couldn't hear the engine until it got to ~4000 RPM. The C7 was quick and handled good. Compared to my setup the C7 felt a little soft or "floaty". It was raining that day so we had to keep the Performance setting on SPORT instead of TRACK. That may be why it felt soft. The Rev Matching works very well (for the heel/toe challenged).
The C7 is an awesome car. I honestly must say though that I prefer to drive my C5 compared to the version of the C7 I drove.
yeah, but how do you sneak up to it since it is so fugly imo. performance isn't everything even performance couldn't save the superbird/daytona back in the day. of course now big $$$$$ if you have one.
And U let someone else drive it? A Ford guy at that?
I only got 10 minutes drive time so far. Not fair!
One of the Ford guys that I let drive the C7 promised that he'll let me drive his '65 427 Cobra when he pulls it out of storage next spring.
Good trade!

As a long time owner of a C5 and now a C7..... a few comments. The interior does seem tight when you first get into it. I am average size and when I first sat in the C7 I was shocked by the tight feel.
But when I got mine.......and I use my winter C5 floor mats in the C7.... there is little difference in the interior spacing..... the floor mats fit...... the height to the rood is roughly the same. To me it more of the channeled feel to the car.
I track mine and helmet is not an issue.
To me the C7 is a completely and very impressive car. BUT the C5 was a landmark car. Looked good and performed well. Wish I could have kept the C5 but time marches on!!!

I've owned Corvettes of each generation over the years since 1980. My first was a 4 speed '75 L82 roadster.
Each generation has been an improvement. The C7 is without a doubt, the best yet. If I were in a different financial situation, I would have one. It is an AMAZING car. I've never had a car that received so much public attention. (including a 67 GTO collector car that I once owned)
Enjoy that C7 (what color do you have?)

I got a chance to drive my friends 2015 C7 Z51 Coupe with 8 spd Auto ( less than 700 miles on it at the time ) for about in hour in the Berkshire Mts of Mass. I loved the car - handled great , brakes , transmission shifted beautifully . Car was very quick . Very quiet too. Loved how it handled the twisties - always felt very grounded in the car as if no matter how fast i drove the car would handle it. I really loved the interior and how the seats held you ( not the Competition seats ). As I drove it I tried to compare it to my present 2004 CE Coupe which I drive daily except in the winter. Would i shell out $60k to replace mine - no ! But in the future I would say my next Vette will be a nice preowned C7.
Just a thought on the interior being tighter than the C5's. I'm 6'4 240# and used to fit nice and comfy in my C5. Redid the seat leather and foam about a year ago and at first I didn't like the fit, everything was tighter, sat higher up, and I couldn't find that same comfy level - took some time to wear in the new foam/leather but it's nice and comfy again
I'd love to pick one up as they are saweet! But I got a baby on the way , have to hold off for a while.

I'm the same size as you, and the C7 design is just more cramped for larger people. My wife even mentioned that I looked more cramped in it than the C5. Being able to sit in the cars back-to-back really tells the story. The C5 console isn't as wide, and the door panel and dash don't wrap around the driver's side as closely. I love the C7, but it's definitely a tight fit for larger people.
