Most posts are about which is faster, but what about the driving experience?
I ask because I have a '15 2SS/RS convertible. My buddy is a Corvette enthusiast, owns a C2 & a high end body shop. I was visiting with him last Friday & mentioned that I was on the way to check out a base C5 as a second vehicle. He asked the reason, since my Camaro is just as fun to drive as a C5 & I don't go to the track. It got me wondering if I'd be making a wise purchase.
Really? Drive a few C5's and get back to us. I've driven in my brother-in-law's 2011 2SS, and I didn't care for it one bit. Blind spots, underwhelming power, and don't get me started on the handling.
When I stop at a red light and a Camaro pulls up next to me it looks so big and bulky its almost ugly ! Never liked them and never will, I would rather drive an older Iroc Z than a 2011 Camaro ! i have raced a few SS Camaros and i leave them behind a few car length every time with my FRC (Sure i have a few bolt ons but who doesn't) ! I have always been a GM guy for the most part although i have owned a couple of 5.0 mustangs when i was in high school but in my opinion the new Mustang GT's are way nicer looking than the Camaros ! I still would not buy either one as i love Vettes ! you can have any Camaro you want but the minute a Vette pulls up (From any generation that is) all the glory is gone, If there was any!
As for the interior ! Big deal, someone mentions that the Camaro interior is way nicer than a C5, well i used to think so until
my wife bought her brand new 2014 Cruze and she has the same dash as a Camaro, almost the same exact dash gauges and the digital speedo as a Camaro !!!! maybe better seats that's about it.
I'm just the opposite with the new Camaros and Mustangs. I think Ford ruined the latest 'Stang by cutting down the rear of the roof/trunk line too much, and the front fenders look too wide for the rest of the car. The previous Mustang was way better looking IMO. The new Camaros look nice, but not as nice as a C5...none of today's muscle cars look as nice as the C5 IMO...
But people with C5's with some bolt-on,s stating they're killing stock Camaro's is really no big deal. If you put headers and a cold air intake in the Camaro it is over 500 HP.
Keep in mind, with all that extra weight, the Camaro needs 500 hp just to run with a stock C5...
2011 v8 camaro might be a little fast then the 2000 c5 if both stock, 11 camaro's can get in to the high 12's pretty often, most stock 2000 c5's only run low 13's.
if your planing on modding then i say the c5 its lighter, probably handles better then the camaro and will get more attention hands down. but if c5's parts are hard to get in your county the camaro might be better for you?
I agree. The LS3> LS1, even with the extra weight of the Camaro. On track, might be different story.
If it were the C5 Z06 you were comparing, it would put a whooping on a 2011 Camaro SS.

It's subjective based on whether one wants a muscle car or sports car experience.

I suppose. Corvettes do both better though. Just giving you a hard time. I wish you good luck in your quest. A C5 would make a great partner to your Camaro.
