I bought the kit to up grade every thing to 01 and up over 4 years ago and when they stop working i will change them. I was quoted a price of 30 dollars a wheel to change them out and balance. Again I don't think that this is something that will break the bank to change when the time comes.
Chill out, Frank, I wasn't questioning your honesty but rather expressing my amazement at how long your sensors have lasted. It's incredible to me that all four are still transmitting after 17 years. Although I will say that by the time you get around to installing your new sensors, keep in mind they'll already be 4+ years old (and that's not counting the time between the date they were manufactured and the date you purchased them).

Im ok with it, Im also amazed at how long they have been working. At least when the 01s quit they won't be as expensive. To tell you the truth I bought the package because of the Fobs. One of the originals broke and are not available any more, That I have repaired since.

Final point - if you are getting new wheels and tires, get them from a vendor that will supply the whole package along with new TPMS sensors installed. That way there will be no mounting charges. I had a considerable discussion with Tire Rack when I did that as to whose sensors they used, etc. I am sure any major wheel/tire supplier can sort you out.

And a suggestion to Frank...if you're still running your old sensors (if they haven't died in the meantime) when you next have to replace your tires, that would probably be a good time to go ahead and have your new sensor kit installed, so as to save yourself some money on the installation.

My tires are still real good. I have had plans for the last couple of years to change them out. I have had these tires at least 4 years.
