So I decided to pull the trigger on some long tubes and a dyno tune and I'm very happy with the way the car performs. Theres no doubt it feels faster. My question is don't these numbers seem to low? Mods are texas speed 1 3/4 LTs into HF catted X..Stock Ti's. I also have a vararam. I understand the mustang dyno robs some power but tell me what you guys think. Max HP-356 Max Torque-337. Air fuel ratio is 8.9
Mustang dynos generally read lower than a Dynojet, but they tend to be all over the place. Dynojets are generally more consistent from shop to shop....they are more simple...less variables to play with etc.
If you didn't get a baseline there it's not possible to really know what's going on for sure.
That Air fuel ratio is SUPER rich though and could be hurting your power if that 8.9 is accurate. Did the guy at the shop tune you or what's the deal with the tune?
The shop did all the work and then dyno tuned the car. I know for sure they didn't do a baseline. I wonder why they left it so rich? There a well known shop but I wasn't the happiest with a few things..now this. I can smell some fuel but nothing too crazy. Is it dangerously rich to the point it will burn up my cats? I'm wondering if I should have it redone somewhere else.
Do you have the dyno plot sheet you can post on here? 8.9 AFR is ridiculous... some factory turbocharged cars run "super rich" from the factory and they "only" run in the 10s AFR range. I can't say for certain, but that can't be very good for the cats if you run it hard a lot. For NA and mostly stock engine like yours, general consensus is 12.5-13.0 AFR at wide open throttle. Mine is/was tuned to right around 13.0 and never had knock issues at ~390whp with similar bolt ons.
I have the sheet but I'm unable to upload a pic of it on here for some reason. They only gave me one single sheet, it doesn't show much else besides the graph and the min max torque and hp..and the AFR…which it says is 8.9.
That power and torque curve look spot on for an LS 6. It may just be that the air to fuel ratio readout is messed up on the sheet. Either way if it were me I would probably give them a call and ask them about it just to confirm.
