About 3 years ago I sold my 00 vert. 2 months prior to that I had traded my 96 vert for a new truck. Well about 6 months ago the corvette bug took hold of me. So the hunt began. I had a C4 vert and a C5 vert, but I had always wanted a Z06. Was looking to buy a C6Z but just was not willing to pay that kind of money for a weekend/car show toy. So I found this one. It goes on the car carrier tomorrow and should be at my doorstep saturday morning. 1 owner with less that 19,000 miles.
Nice AND congrats! I too was looking at a c6Z and just could not justify 45k vs 25k for my c5z for a car that I was only going to use on the weekends. Insurance is a lot less too.
Agree....Nice car. Like the color too. I bought my Z when she was 2-years old. Still have it and it is paid for. Just cannot bring myself to get rid of it for a C6 Z.
Loaded up on the car carrier and heading my way. Should be here tomorow afternoon or saturday morning. Pics to follow. Oh and I have not told the wife yet. I bet those pics will be priceless.
Looks like it will be a fun weekend for you or not fun, depending on how the wife reacts.
Piece of advice...not sure what the temps will be, but if they are cold, careful on how much pressure you exert with your right foot and how fast you go around turns...

Thanks. I think with all the hints I gave her she now knows. Going to be a cold weekend in SC, but I will try to put a few miles on. The only regret I had when I had a C4 adn C5 in the garage is that I did not drive them enough. I will (work schedule pending)try not to have that issue with this one. Thanks again.
About 10:30 pm the car carrier pulls up in front of the house. Driver gets the Z unloaded and pulls it into the garage so I can do the inspection. This thing is spotless. The original owner had replaced the stereo with an Alpine aftermarket but low and behold in the trunk is the original. Also in the trunk is a car cover and a dash pad cover. The dash and passenger seat look like new and the drivers seat shows very little sign or wear. Found the original owners insurance card in the glove box so this morning I google it and it comes back with all his info and shows him as 65+ for age. I believe this car had a pampered first 10 years of its life with 18,800 easy miles. Took it out for a quick midnight spin and with the temps in the 20's the goodyear F-1's did not like that cold weather.
Looking forward to enjoying some car show trips this year.
Congrats and welcome! The Z06 has been the most fun car I've ever owned. A sheer joy to drive. May you have many happy years enjoying your beautiful ride!
Between the rain and cold have not had a chance to put miles on it yet. This weekend in SC should be sunny and mid 60's. One of the first things I am going to do is get new tires. The original F1's are still on the car and have no grip left. I see that OEM size tires have a very (1) small selection. Wanted to get the PS2's but hard to justify $1,600.00 for tires on a car that will not be tracked and only be used on the weekends adn to go to car shows. Looks like the Bridgestone Potenza will be the one's. For that price they are at least worth a try.
Both good choices. My 00 vert was a 6 sp MY/Blk. A few mods and boy did it run. I must say that the stock Z06 is faster that my MY 00 vert that had LG Street series long tube headers, cold air intake and bench tune by Chuck at COW.
If those are the "Motorsports" black knockoffs of the OEM wheels, be advised that they are super-heavy and really add unsprung weight (ask me how I know). Had a set on one of my prior Zs (an 03 model) and the car felt much slower after adding them (the extra unsprung weight disproportionally slows the car).
If your wheels are these, then I would consider replacing them with a better, lower weight alternative. They do look nice, but a set of CCWs or any of a number of other lightweight, strong alternatives may serve you better. Your car will be much quicker (really, and in seat of the pants, too) with a lighter wheel.
Hopefully your wheels are a set of powder coated OEM wheels, which are of much better weight and quality than the Motorsports wheels, which are made in China from what seems like cast iron....
