Default PCV system

Hey guys, I am the process of installing a LS6 intake and cleaning up some of other things on the engine (deleting air pump system). Well looking at the pcv system on the LS1 it seems to me to be backwards, in the days of carburetors the vacuum line came from the carb base (full vacuum) went to the pcv valve on the valve cover. The other valve cover hose went to the air cleaner to a filter on the unfiltered side of the air cleaner housing. The air filter housing would sometimes have a lot of oil collecting in the base, and usually the fault was a plugged pcv valve. On the LS1 there is vacuum directly to the valve covers with the PCV valve on the end of the system. So to me the PCV is useless the engine is just going to suck not only the vapors from the crankcase system but also the oil in certain conditions. 1. The need for a catch can
2. The switch to LS6 PCV system
3. A breather on the valve cover
I know GM is a hell of a lot smarter than me. What do you guys think about this????
