I was wanting to lower just the rear of our 04 vert... on stock bolts and it is the FE1. Want to go as far as possible safely.
I see lots of lowerings that appear to be level and from what I've read GM wants to have the car, 3/4 of an inch lower in the front. Is that really an issue or not. NOT messing with the front. And is there any reason for alignment if just doing the backs (may be a silly question).
I don't really mind the "stance" it is just a little higher in the back. Car will never see 150 mph...
Thanks

After lowering my car the alignment guy made sure the front was 3/4" lower in the front. He told me it was to put down force on the front for high speed driving. He explained that it keeps the front from "wandering".
As for an alignment, when was the last time you had it done? If it's been a few years I'd do it after lowering. I'm not an expert on alignments but I would think any geometry change to the suspension would affect the alignment. Here's a pic of my car lowered on stock bolts with the 3/4" rake.

Was setting at 28.5" at the rear... jacked up, backed off nuts and left 4 threads showing. Let it down off jacks and now is setting at 29"
I guess I need to drive it? Why did it go up and not down? And I don't need to align...for sure? Just doing the back...

Every time you lift the car, you need to drive it to settle the suspension
I would personally align it just because it's an IRS
Lowering the rear without the fronts will affect the alignment. It will change the caster which can affect wandering and steering return. The front of the car should be lower than the rear. Looks to me your whole car needs to be lowered, it's easy enough to change to adjust to your likes. Looks too high.
