Squeaky brakes?

Anyone else with an '02 Z got 'em?
Mine just turned 800 miles and at least one of them (think it's the left front) is squeaking during slow stops.

I have an 03 with 500 miles on it. Has been squeking since I got the car. I was told it is because of the material they are made out of. I am thinking of having the dealer replace them with standard C5 pads or buying HAWK brand pads to get rid of the squek. I hate the noise. It is embarassing. :mad

I hear ya! The embarassing part is the only thing that really bothers me. (I'm not crazy about all of the brake dust either.) Guess that's a small price to pay for all the fun I'm having driving mine!

Embarassing?!? :confused: Guys, the noise is just a side effect of having race track capable brake pads on a streetable car. Brake pads are either quiet and perform well in colder weather/modest applications or are more heat resistant and perform more poorly in cold or light applications - and they usually squeek.

If someone finds the noise embarassing, I invite them for a ride to experience supercar braking first hand. Usually, after hanging from their seatbelts from the Gs, they don't call it embarassing anymore. :nono:

There is a tradeoff we all know about, whether it's brakes, acceleration, tire grip, suspension - more performance = more noise. The same is true of high performance brakes if not properly brought to operating temperature. They won't squeek at all if they are warm, like after a 100-0 mph braking test...

I get it when the calipers get really dusty - remove the wheels and clean them up with brake cleaner - will work far a few miles...

I have it too. Just shows that the Z06 is part animal. I take it for better or worse,sickness or in health...because my car is my dog.

Best of both worlds here. Quiet and competent brakes. I love the way these binders slow the car.

Thought the Baer's I put on my Mustang are good, but the Z06 brakes coupled with the F1s are outstanding.

Have a habit of driving fast along 2 lane country roads. Twice already I have run up on an intersection (e.g. over a hill and behind trees) only to realize "That's my turn!." Slam on brakes...car slows so fast, the turn is anticlimatic. The decel is so good it almost makes me dizzy. :crazy:
