I just picked up a Z06 that the previous owner had signed by Max Papis and David Hill?
Max Papis Was part of the C5-R race team and David hill is the chief engineer for Corvette at the time the car was made.
Papis signed the engine cover and hood and Hill signed the other over. Both are dated and not personalized.

Just curious if it added any value. I didn't pay more because of the signatures but didn't know if to the right buyer it added any value. It could be a common thing as they had the car signed at a big meeting in Bowling Green.

They will probably add value to the covers themselves if sold separately. I think I would be tempted to pull them of the car and hang them on the wall...and bring them out on special occasions. Pretty cool to me...
Just depends on finding the right sucker... personally I would not pay one dollar for ANYONE'S signature on anything. I might "not" buy something "with" a signature unless I could replace that part easily. I have never even let a Dealer put their plate frame or badge on any car.
The suckers are out there though (and a bunch of them have more money than brains) - look at all the idiots buying diamonds off the TV commercial that says right up front that they are guaranteed to appraise for at least TWICE what they are selling them for NEW!!! No red flags there! If you want to find out what a Diamond is really worth, don't ask a jeweler, take it to a pawn shop - that is what it is worth. The only way a diamond might be worth very much is if you could prove that some famous idiot was dumb enough to pay money for it in the first place - in which case you are really buying the "story" - which may or may not even be true.
I've got many Corvette celebrity signatures on my red Z06 covers including my favorite two drivers, Ron Fellows and Mario Andretti. I'm positive they are of no extra value to anyone but myself. They certainly are a conversation piece when at a Corvette event, so much so that depending on my mood, sometimes I won't open my hood. If I were to sell my car I probably would take them off. Most people wouldn't appreciate the effort it took to get them all. I'll just hang them on the garage wall.

I don't know, I would probably be one of those suckers to pay a 'dollar' to have a item that was signed by Zora Arkus Duntov or Harley J. Earl !!
