Looking for a good set of shocks. For my 02 c5z, I mainly use the car for street/strip use. And I'm don't take the car into curves agressive, average driving. I mainly just want the car to weight transfer and leave harder at the track. I don't want coilovers, and prefer them to be adjustable.
Ive looked at the QA1s but I've heard you tend to lose a lot of ride comfort with them. And the Penske are a bit out of my price range. I thought the DRM bilsteins were valved for road course?
One of the best shocks for you would be the stock 04 Z06 shocks. The reason is that they have digressive valving that is very good for planting the rear tires on acceleration. Not cheap, but the road racing shocks aren't what you want. QA-1's are a drag shock, but they aren't a good street shock.
I have the 04 Z shocks on my 02, I installed them for the reasons Solofast stated and I run road courses quite a bit, they were also developed for street use of which I have approx 40k mi of.
DRM Bilstiens have a good valve setup on them as do OEM 2004 Z06 Sachs shocks... not aware of any adjustable shocks for a C5 that isnt a coil over.
I purchase a set on the last group buy, and also installed Potenzas RE760, a bigger sway bar and I'm very please. Two weeks ago I was driving the Z around Malibu, CA-Rock Store-The Snake, and I was chasing a sport bike, and it did not walk away from me.
I'm very please with those upgrades. The rest of the suspension is stock.
i went with the C6 Z06 shocks and so far around a track and out driving it around i have been very pleased with them..i changed my stock 02z shocks out at 40k miles and have 12k on the new setup and i would do this over again if i had too!!
