Default Z06 Questions

I'm considering buying a C5Z and have heard the 01's may have oil burning issues and the 02-03 valve spring problems. Are these real concerns for most cars?

How much would it cost to have the valve springs replaced; I would not be able to do the work myself.

The 04's are a little pricey compared to the earlier years but maybe not if the above repairs are needed.

Some '01 did have oil burning issues but they were mostly because of high rpm driving (above 4000 rpm) for long periods of time.
Here is a link that explains this issue:

I know someone who has a 2001 and has no oil burning issue. He just crossed the country and hardly used any oil.

I have a 2002 Z06. My car was in the high probability of valve springs failure. I replaced them for peace of mind. Unless you have new parts in your car, I would replace the spark plug wires, spark plugs, intake and exhaust valve seals at the same time you change the springs. If you have yellow springs then most likely they are the ones affected. The new ones are blue. If you open the oil cap you can peek inside and see the color of the springs.
You can expect to pay around $400 to have the work done including parts.

Thanks, that about covers it. Oil burning probably not an issue and best to replace valve springs in 02 and 03's. The cost for the repair is very reasonable. Guess I'll just look for the best car in my price range.
