Had 2 front tires put on my 01. Well the guy put the rt. on the left , so now they read backwards . Went back and told them about it. He said he would go out and reset them. I've been back twice and they haven't fixed it yet. Is there away that I can do it myself ? For some reason they are doing it wrong . thanks Joe
Had a similar problem. I had to call corporate and even then I picked up on sarcastic tone. Long story... I just went to a new place and paid for the correction and peace of mind.
So do a search on the reset procedure, get yourself a magnet, and do it yourself. I have never done it but doesn't look very difficult to me.....I'm soon going to be getting new wheels, tires, and sensors and that is what I plan to do..............
Do left front first, then right front, then right rear, then left rear last. If you don't program them in that order, the display will not be correct for which tire is reading.
Thanks guys . I did it today, it worked fine till I got to the last wheel , could not get the horn to beep. Repeated the sequence 3 times and every time the last tire would not beep . Do you think the sensor is bad ? They are all reading the TP on the screen. Or maybe try a bigger mag. thanks Joe

Was it OK before you changed front tires?
I used this magnet made for training sensors:
If they all show tire pressure, drive it awhile and see if it's working correctly.. If it isn't working it won't show pressure.
I would have to disagree that it is working. The pressure value shown in the DIC can hang around for a long time with a failed sensor. That was my experience when the sensors in my 04 began failing a few years back.
OP,
you can pull the codes for the car and see if the sensor is responding. Here is how to pull codes:
Pull ALL your codes and then clear them ALL ( video explains how to do that)
Then take the car for a 10 or 15 mile ride. When you return pull the codes again.
Code C2115 will show under sensor RFA if the left rear TPM sensor is not communicating. I am assuming you started with the left front and the last sensor (the one that is not responding) is the left rear.
Driving it for awhile should determine if it is working or not.
Thanks guys . I'll try that tomorrow. The left rear is working because I let air out and it did read less air . Put air back and it responded. But the two front are still backwards. I'll do the code thing and try that.
So I can reset brand new sensors myself using this method? Any suggestions on best place to get a magnet? I Live in a tiny town in middle of nowhere so close options are limited.

Any big strong magnet will do. Got any old speakers laying around?

They sell them on Amazon, or use one out of an old speaker if you have one.
I've also seen donut-shaped magnets at Home Depot, but it may vary by store.
Thanks for the replies. I will check into the speakers. Wasn't sure if brand new sensors could be programmed that way or a dealer had to program them and this trick was for resetting their location.

When I got new tires at Tires Plus I had them put in the new sensors I had bought. They tried to train them with an electronic programmer and couldn't do it. I told them they needed a magnet and they said they had never heard of that. Took it home, ordered a magnet off ebay and programmed them myself in less than 5 minutes. They all have to be trained at once following onscreen directions.

There are 3rd-party sensors that work with the standard GM receivers but require a special widget to program rather than a magnet, although why the tire people wouldn't know how the OEM sensors work is beyond me.

The store has been there for 40 years and all the guys working there had never done a C5 before. No one was much over 30, so I believe it. Not a lot of C5s in town, either.

What about the other gazillion GM cars using the same system?
Got my magnet from Lowes, in a pack of 2 or 3 as I recall. Beware of "TPMS magnets" - when I bought my new wheels and tires, TR supplied such a magnet - basically it was supposed to fit around the valve stem, but the wheel spokes were in the way, so I used the flat, but powerful Lowes magnet, just wiggled it into place. The Lowes ones were also dirt cheap.
