So being a DIY one of the project's I have been meaning to do on my car was to fix the infamous dimming climate display, so I took mine out tonight found out I had the 2nd gen board and to my surprise I found 3 out of the 6 (241) chips were almost coming off the board. so I while it was all apart I touched up all six for good measure and went and tested its like brand new again...so I just wanted to say thanks for all the great info on this forum and all its helpful member's whom take the time to do write up's and help others out...
whole process from start to finish took me about 1 hour
I'm sure that won't be the last time you benefit from the collective knowledge on this forum. most everyone here is willing to help, some are walking encyclopedias.
I have had my own share of assistance here which does not go unappreciated.

As far as I know from experience there are only 2 versions of the HVAC board. They both have 8 surface mounted 241 resistors that could cause a dim display issue.
Here is a link showing the 2 versions I am referring to.
Couldn't agree more. As a relative new member and recent C5 owner it is nice to know that there is such a wealth of knowledge and experience available here all of the time.
