Default Nitto NT05?

On a Z Nitto NT05 --do the 275/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear tires have same size sidewall? Do they look good? Thx.

so the middle number in a tire size is representative of sidewall. So in the case of 275/40 the sidewall is 40% of the width of the tire (275). Make sense?

given the extra width of the 295 the 35 and 40 are about equal.

This site helps as well

On any tire, NT05 or otherwise, it's math:
275 is the width in mm
40 is the aspect ratio
17 is the rim size in inches (yes, good question, why width in mm and rim size in inches...?)
So a 275 40 XX (any rim size) is going to have a 4.33" sidewall height
A 295 35 is going to have a 4.06" sidewall height
It's the problem I see with going bigger in the front, it does look off to me.
To get to the above; 275/25.4 to convert width to inches = 10.83" wide.
Multiply that 10.83 x 0.40 (40% sidewall height of width aspect ratio) = 4.33"

Before you buy Nittos NT05, look into other alternatives.

What's wrong with the NT-05's? I think it depends on what you are doing with them. NT-05 is a better track tire than the RE760.

I'm leaning towards 255/285 Hankook RS3s for my next set of tires. NT05s run narrow, RS3 runs wide....so really it's a wash size-wise, and RS3 is the better/newer compound. Price is right around the same, NT05 being a little cheaper.

I have them, and feel like it's a noticeable difference... Nothing crazy, but noticeable.

And whoever said no to the NT05, I've got a handful of track passes, and about 20k miles on my Nt05's, with tons of street play, and a hard weekend at Deals Gap...

They take a little bit to heat up, but wear nicely and stick well for the most part

Another vote for Nitto NT-05's...beyond great dry performance, I got caught in a sh*t ton of heavy rain at the NCM 20th last August and had no issues.

275/295 combo...

I've got the same setup on my Z. 275/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear NT05's. I like them and have no complaints.

I have the same setup, I was really happy with them last year. I was, and still am, new to running track days. I got about 4000 street miles and 6 track days in. Rears are at or near the wear bar, fronts are still like new. I'll be buying another set of rears for this summers HPDE's.

Tires also look fine on the car.

How are you guys finding the widths of the rears compared to say the stock F1's?

Pics I've seen look kinda 'skinny' but maybe it's just the pics and they look better in person?

Nice wheels, but I'm bias! I'm just waiting to install mine on a 03 yellow Z06 when the weather improves a little more.
