Tried putting a small 1/8" pin stripe on the front fender side moulding of my 3-week-old Z06 just to see how it might look. Came back for a second look about ten minutes later - and it had fallen off!! Is there something special about Corvette paint? I've pin-striped lots of new cars for myself and friends but never run into this problem. What makes Vette paint feel so slippery? I haven't waxed it yet, and I can't imagine the dealer going to that expense before delivery.
I'm curious too. I just bought a 2002 Z06 a month ago, and the clear coat seemed awful slippery, too. Did you try a cleaner polish/wax prior to application?

I tried a mild detergent just on that piece of moulding (same detergent I've used before pin-striping other cars). Didn't seem to faze it. I'd still like to put a 1/8" pin strip down the lengths of those side mouldings.
That applies everywhere but ca, because these dealers only care that you pick it up and drive it away. They don't seem to be too worried about customer satisfaction and the like. They do wash them, though. Waxing, come on, now.
