Default Pulled the Trigger on a 18'' Square Combination

I just ordered a set of TSW Interlagos with Michelin PSS tires from The Speed Depot.

275/18/35 on a 9" front and 295/18/35 on a 10.5" rear.

Very helpful service from Alex so far. I will keep everybody posted as to how this combo works/looks.

Actually, I should have said "staggered" not "square" in the title...whoops!

why not 265/295 combo, same dia specs for tires as stock except 18 on front, what I have and zero problems.

The 275s won't cause problems, I'm just curious

Hmmm. I'll be honest...I didn't even think about the 265s as they are kind of an oddball size. That might be the way to go for a little quicker turn-in and not much contact-patch reduction.
Thanks for the input and I'll talk to The Speed Depot today...

265/35-18 is the equivalent of the 265/40-17 that came factory on these cars and is available in most performance tires... how is that an oddball size?

Because 275 is common across many vehicles both past and present. I've had 275s on plenty of vehicles already including Corvettes and F-bodys. The C5Z is the only wearer of 265s that I am familiar with...

Thanks!

Ah, you were an F-body and C4 guy... 265s have been factory on Mustangs, as well as a bunch of foreign performance cars

265/35 on a 18x9.5

295/35 on a 18x10.5

Should look close to that..... but I think your fronts may bulge more than mine.

change your order to 265 now, not even kidding, the 275 runs wide and will look very out of place with the rear which fits that 10.5 perfect, the 275 wants a 9.5 or 10" wheel. also will increase oversteer

Tires will look similar, as stated his front tire is a slightly different size on a narrower wheel....it will look taller than the rear I think

not even close

over 1/2" difference between models is common. you also have the rim protector and shape of the sidewall

a 305 30 19 michelin pss is much wider than the same tire in a hankook v12

the v12 for example actually fits a 10.5" wheel, the pss will look ridiculous on it

He wants the same size tire on the rear with the same size wheel LOL

On the front he wants a bigger tire on a smaller wheel, hence me saying his front will bulge more than mine.

But

Well, there has been a delay in getting this combination delivered. The Speed Depot is working to make things right, so I'll keep everybody posted...

You'll like the 18s up front, bit more responsive on turn in, the trade off is be a bit more careful of potholes. I run C5Z rears up front on the street to clear my brakes with the same tire size and I like the look.

But
pretty much. that's why i was like whoa whoa whoa, get the 265 up front....seriously..you will thank me

the pss in 275 needs to be on a 9.5 min and looks great on a 10. the 265 35 18 looks perfect on a 9" wheel or a 9.5

Nah. The 275 looks great on the fronts...flat sidewall and almost exactly the same as the factory-sized 265/17 combo.

If anything the 295s out back look a little thin...

I'm about to go this route to replace some Nt05's. What brand and size tires front and rear are you running?
