The guy I'm thinking of, has been around here enough for me to take notice of the cars. On his C-5 Z06, I'm pretty sure I saw the snow tires on it that Goodyear made, in the Corvette sizes. The C-6 had some pretty aggressive looking tires on it, but I don't think anybody makes snow tires in those sizes, so I think they're Continental Extreme DWS tires.
Given my 40+ years of winter driving experience, the Corvette tires are too wide, to punch through the snow effectively, so even though a Corvette has good weight distribution for winter driving, it would be a handful....
It's the same guy, He lives in webster. I've known him for over 10 years. He uses his corvette for everything. Last year he sold his C5 Z06 and upgraded to the C6 Z06. He also tracks his car at Watkins Glen.

Is it cheaper to register/insure the car out of state?
I'm not sure, I believe he does it so he doesn't have to run a front plate. I could be totally wrong but that's my best guess
Here in MA some people register their cars in NH providing a relative or friends address which the insurance companies consider fraud. We are supposed to register at our primary residence or where we live the majority of the year. This could be a reason for them to deny coverage should there be a claim and you can bet if it is a major accident with injury or death they probably will.

I was thinking the same thing. With respect to the front plate, I see MANY cars around here without front plates..........
I run a front plate on my DD but not on the vette so I'm included
We used to have only one plate here in MA and as long as you kept it were allowed to use just one. But as soon as you get a new registration the RMV would make you get two. If I remember correctly as long as you transferred old one plate registration you could keep and use just one plate.
