If you sell the Vette, you should have enough cash to buy a Trek Madone 7.9 ($11,549) or a S-Works Tarmac Dura-Ace ($8,500).

I have a trek domane 4.0 that I upgraded with campagnolo parts from my old bike, a Lemond tourmalet that I wrecked. The trek is nice, and at my age a better fit. I miss the steel frame of the lemond - it had something that seems to be missing in the trek. I thought about Waterford but didn't want to wait several months for it. I'm just an old fat guy, kind of silly to have a super light weight carbon bike.

I would like to find a way to keep the vette. Given that the family has basically made it impossible to use it, the practical side of me says to get rid of it.

I've been trying to figure out what I could get for my vette:

1998 convertible, black with black top, red interior, sport seats, 6sp, base suspension, fog lights, 12 disc changer. 100% stock.

No active handling, memory seats, or climate control.

16400 miles, still on original tires and sensors (which work).

EBCM and SWPS work.

The only problem is the intermittent C1281, which doesn't actually cause any problems.

edmunds says 10100/11143/12899
kbb says 13561 to 16668, average of 15115 for dealer trade in.

kbb is significantly higher than edmunds, I think edmunds is way low.
kbb is even low after reading what people are getting for vettes with much higher mileage.

Are those estimates even reasonable?

Go by NADA values. Edmunds seems to always be low and KBB is usually way too high. NADA seems more realistic and is what banks use to calculate value for loans.
