There is no light in the center console.

My 01 Coupe has a bright orange LED to indicate airbag on/off.
That light is near the AH/TH button.
(The airbag on/off switch is in the glovebox, and requires the ignition key.)
Additionally, you may have a soft/subtle orange glowing area just in front of the radio.
I'm thinking its intended as a maplight of sorts, actually comes from the passenger side bulb in the rear view mirror.
