pulleys question

Is there a general average mileage that original pulleys last before they dry out and start to chirp or squeal? I tried to do a search but couldn't find an answer...maybe there is no answer...

My tensioner pulley was dry at 60K. My idler pulley was still good at 60K.

I would so no, there is no general average mileage that you could go by.

Take your belt off the pulley and see if it spins freely.

If it does, the grease inside is gone.

At 131,000 miles everything is original in the pulley system and I've never had any squeaks. Belts are the only things ever changed, plus I carry spares in the trunk.

Did you check the pulleys when you changed belts?
