Hey, just mastered the cruise control on the c5. I can now program the speed in increments or slow down by pressing the column button while driving. Never noticed the column button before, so it completes the cruise experience.
ALL the time! I forgot once to push the button on the end of the multi function stick and was just pushing the resume button and thought the cruise was jacked up... I checked fuses, and was freaking out ... we had just bought the car and didn't even have an owners manual... then I remembered I had to actually set the cruise for it to be able to resume...
What a fun car... I love it.
Glad for you that you "discovered" the "mph up 1 / mph down 1 feature that has been on cruise control mechanisms for the last 30 years.
I am one of the world's greatest fans of cruise control on cars since the first time I drove one equipped with it. It has saved me from more than one "stupid ***" speeding ticket during the years and also decreased fuel consumption over the years.
Glad you all like it as much as me. The c5 cruise control set to 55 is a very smooth ride and very relaxing experience. I find driving 70 puts me in competition with other drivers, but with the cc set to 55 people fly by and then slow down to admire the car instead of competing with it. Its a beautiful thing.

Good one, I drive in the right lane with the slows.
Amazing at 55, the rpm are so low on the c5. Then, when time is right, I program the cruise to 70 and feel the smooth computer controlled acceleration take off very efficiently. The c5 has made me rediscovered my love of driving.
I use CC but tell me more about the column buttom, where is it and how to use it. I must have missed this feature. I thought all the CC features were on the multi function stick, am I wrong.

I'mo start up a search party--who wants to join me!? Le's HUNT this blasphemous specimen of a Corvette driver down and steal his car; put it through the paces like a Vette deserves... 55 in the right lane?? For 18-wheels up a hill maybe, or a '62 Vdubya, or maybe even a Yugo--but a Vette? An' relish in it, too?? Law's forgive 'im, for he is impure.
Great sense of humor... I like to drive slow for many reasons... mostly to relax.
The column button decelerates as long as it pressed for. This way the vette can be driven without any feet control allowing the driver to sit more comfortably.
DAAAyuummm.... Ummm--how, pray tell, does *your* logic explain the gas pedal's purpose IN A CORVETTE!??
Praise the Maker: this user's profile says his obtuse... er, abuse (excuse me) of Cruise Control is limited to a "just" a C5. I can only imagine the consternation and disgruntlement of the entire Z06 ownership for such a proud stance--think of the hypothetical psychiatric therapy and costs... a z06 owned proudly for "55 in the right"... AND mastered slow, incremental, and computer-controlled deceleration??
