I posted a while back asking about a modification to the driving lights. I recently replaced the orange Parking light bulbs with clear bulbs and like the new look. I would like to splice two diodes on the power wires to the fog lights and parking lights to allow the brighter parking lights to come on when the fog lights are on. One diode would allow current flow from the fog light to the driving light, and the other diode would prevent current flow back up to the driving light circuit, I would also replace the fog light fuse with a higher amperage fuse. Is this possible, and/or is there already somebody selling such a kit.
I would recommend you PM dadaroo before putting in higher amperage fuses...that could be a melt down. The C5 has little room for error when doing or changing the electrical system.
the brighter parking lights are the high power circuit on the 3157 bulb which is also your turn signal. If you do what you are proposing, you will loose turn signal function when the fog lights are on.
What fog lights are you currently using? If you're looking for additional light, it might be easier to simply install a fog light upgrade (HID kit) or get a set of LED lights (strip, bar or pod) and tap power from the fog light circuit.
Radioflyer, the DRLs and the turn signals are the same filament. The Parking lights are the other filament in the bulb. I'm pretty sure about that from my experience, but I am drinking beer now.
However I never mind being corrected, it has happened before.
Assuming I am correct, his idea of 2 diodes is still flawed. It would only need one. Not suggested he do it yet since I want to consider the circuit current draws. A new circuit might be the a better way.
Any use of a larger fuse in stock wiring is always a BAD IDEA.

Lol. True, however when the fog lights are on, the parking lights (low power filament) will come on automatically since the fog lights can only be activated with parking lights or headlights are on.
Thanks for the replies, I did not take into consideration that the wire size may not be able handle the added amps required to run both lights. It maybe be better to run a separate circuit, again thanks for the input.
