Definitely done on purpose. I have my newly installed dash cam set to stay on for the max of 10 minutes after exit. Wish the cam had a on for 30 minutes.
Not sure if was on purpose or not. Once I was sitting with a buddy in his parked car in a almost empty parking lot when all of a sudden a guy sideswiped his Mustang. It looked a lot like your damage. He probably would have ran if we weren't there. His excuse: He said, "for some reason I just lost control." The way people are distracted now a days anything is possible. Personally I doubt it was on purpose. Too many possible witnesses. People run into parked cars all the time. Myself, I have had 2 of my parked cars run into.
Was the car parked with the front or back next to a curb or was it just parked out on the open? Looks like someone just drove by, not like they drove in, parked and then backed out?
OP - damn that sucks. Very sorry this happened to your Vette.
This is why I won't take my collector cars on errands to the store. Just sucks that you cannot count on others not to damage your car when you park it in a parking lot. Whether it is negligence or intent, the result is the same...
Hope you get your car fixed up and looking great soon!
