Default Mgw ftw!!!

OK, so I finally installed my MGW shifter that i bought like 3 months ago... I had a B&M Precision Sport shifter in it that i couldn't stand any longer... it rattled, felt like a spoon in a can of soup, and was just all around pretty cruddy in my opinion.
The total install time was about an hour after watching their tutorials on Youtube. The MGW is a bit stiffer than the B&M, needing a touch more muscle to shift. It does feel a bit notchy, but in a good way. Neutral slop is all but gone. I proceeded to take it for a quick test run, and HOLY CARP... what a huge difference! The notchy feeling without the car running is not there while driving, it has a very positive feel to it, and I swear, I will never miss third gear again, no matter how fast I shift. It's almost as if the Shifter knows where to go next.
Overall, Very Impressed with MGW and I am probably going to order one for my Trans Am very soon.

That's great! I hated trying to hit third in mine. Then I put a Hurst in. And wow! It's great!

Congrats on a great upgrade. I installed my MGW a few years back, if you like it now you will love it once you break it in (after a few weeks)

Congrats on a good upgrade to the car. I've heard nothing but good reviews about the MGW products.

MGW shifter is one of my favorite mods on my car. Really enhances the driving experience.

Now do the " Anti Venom" mod.
Do a search...pretty simple procedure that will ease some of the stiffness/notchy feel. It will not loosen up in a few weeks by itself. I drove mine 10K and it didn't loosen up.
Just do it and thank me later.

And I just scored a complete 54k mile LS6 shortblock assembly from a buddy of mine... He is swapping to a 5.3 to add more boost to his 01 Z06.
that swap will take me a couple days, but a 54k mile LS6 block is a better base than the 170k mile LS1 in my 04

Did the second washer make a difference?? I did one and didn't feel a difference.

Back to the OP! Kudos on the shifter!

I'm trying to decide between the C6 shifter and the MGW.

Thanks for the review!

The first upgrade I decided on after getting the vette (as with any stick) was a short shifter. Reviews pointed to the MGW being a great shifter. I got it and installed it with a one-washer anti-venom mod. My only gripe about the shifter was that when it was screwed all the way, and the shifter **** was screwed all the way in, I felt like I wasn't getting enough leverage and it seemed much harder than necessary to shift. I backed the shifter out a few threads then tightened it down, and did something similar with the ****. That was almost two years ago and I haven't looked back! Never missed a single shift!

Great shifter!
