Yeah I hear ya..I had a "pro" wax job a few wks ago and they gunked it up pretty good. It was actually a bit cleaner before..Thankfully the rest of the car came out really nice.
I think some of these guys on the forum here really know how to showcar detail.
If they were real PRO's they wouldn't have left it like that... I detail my car to a very high standard for shows and the toothbrush works as good as anything I've ever used for things like the emblems...we were in a pretty big show a couple of weeks ago and won our class award... and I used a toothbrush for the small detail work... and a soft bristled paint brush for stuff in the interior that my air compressor doesn't blow out or off...
73 that's why I said "pro's" ..oh well ya know small town bs, they didn't even clean the inside of my windshield..but like I said the actual black paint they polished did come out very nice. But I agree "professional" no way. Although they have a shop and licence on the main drag.. Last time they cleaned out the change in my T-Bird..
Anyway, I needed some help getting my paint back together, polishing at that level was too much for me..my car was a dirty scuffed and scratched mess after a recent 3 week repair job in the funky and cramped shadetree's shop. Luckily the guy is a solid mechanic inside the motor and the mill runs perfect. He did me an easy 4K job for 1K
Ok back to the subject..I think I got a handle on the 'ol toothbrush trick (she'll never notice)..I'll dig out some simple green and go to work.
No simple green needed... just brush around the emblem, in the emblem, over the emblem... the brush will clean it up... then just wipe it off with a clean rag...
