My friends 99 vette has been having consistent reduced engine power problems as soon as you clear the code it clears right up. When you drive the car with the traction control off it will never go into reduced engine power mode it runs and. Drives perfect. It seems to have a lack of throttle response right before it goes into reduced engine power mode. Would it be safe to assume that the throttle body motor and pedal sensor are fine since there are no issues with the traction control off. Could it be a TAC module? Any guidance would be appreciated.

UPDATE:
Problem resolved with new ported throttle body!

I would surely do what is suggested above. When I got the reduced engine power read out on the dic, the manual tells us to change the fuel you are using. I did and no problem since.

I've experienced this problem myself as well. I got the Reduced Engine Power and TCS code 2 times in the month of February. Both times I experienced this on cold mornings, I believe the temps were around 35-45 degrees. I got the message as soon as the car started, shut the car off, clear codes and everything would be fine. Drove a week and then the code came back. Researched a bit and learned the TAC module may have been the culprit. They seem to get wet and cause problems. Inspected the TAC module but it didnt seem to be wet or have any water. I cleaned it anyway. I also read that the throttle body may stick and may not open and close as it should since gunk may build up over time. Well I figured let me clean the TB, and boy was that thing dirty!!! Lots of black grease build up, or whatever it was it was filthy!!! I cleaned it up really good with TB cleaner, I removed the throttle body as well. Once cleaned and reinstalled, i noticed a better idle and better throttle response as well. I havent had the Reduced Engine Power code since and hat was over 2 months ago.

Last time I had this problem I replace my throttle position sensor and the problem never came back.
