It has to have a CARB sticker or it will fail the visual inspection. They won't even test it without the sticker.

a&a's blower kits are carb legal... the cam I would be more worried about but if a&a is doing the work I wouldn't worry about it... I highly doubt they would put anything on your car that would give you legal problems

Andy's new kits have an EO# and are legal.
With CA's new "plug and play" testing, it can be as easy as, no codes and all monitors set, 10 minutes in and out. No sniffer, no "road dyno" anymore for OBDII cars. They just hook up to the OBDII port, no codes and your good. Alot of the techs aren't even popping the hood!!!

I'm taking my 04 CE to A&A next Monday for the SC upgrade. Josh told me to expect just over 500 RWHP when it was done, around 630 or so at the crank.

Interested to hear what others are getting for final HP/Torque #'s though.

this really all depends on your own personal setup, which blower, what other mods you have, etc... they have been doing it long enough to know a rough estimate of what it should be capable of

Yep. My CE ZO6 with a T Trim setup, running a 3.8" pulley put down 640WHP SAE on straight pump. Stock heads / cam. Only had a Halltech and 1 7/8" headers with catted X pipe prior.

ScumOne, I'm guessing your 04 CE is a base model?

Correct, it's the A4 Auto with LS1/LS6 intake, stock cam/heads, etc. Headers are a PITA in So Cal (as in you can't have them CARB legal), and there's more restrictive exhaust as well, IIRC.

Still, my 69 Firebird got it's inline 6 taken out and I put a Chevy Big Block 402 in it 37 years ago. It was totally gone through, ported/polished, steel crank, bigger cam, Holley 750, etc. It made 475 on the dyno in 1978, probably 400 RWHP through the Muncie M22 four speed.

Needless to say, over 500 RWHP with the comfort of the CE is a huge bonus, and with all the creature comforts of a more modern car.

I could cost justify anything I guess, but reality is that I'll drive this at higher speeds somewhere WELL OUT OF LOS ANGELES and only for short bursts.

But WTF...I'm selling my other C5 since my wife likes the 98 Trans Am convertible we just got better, so it was a choice of upgrading the 99 or the 04, and the 04 has 39k miles on it, and costs less to SC than the 99.
