Sorry if wrong forum. I have the opportunity to buy from a local dealership. It is a 97 ls1 auto c5 coupe, 120k miles. I have also had the opportunity to speak to the previous owner he said it has a LS2 intake, 92mm throttle body, CAI, Texas speed LTs, ORX, upgraded fuel rails, tuned by a local reputable tuner, Muffler delete for some dumb reason(would change that) No problems at all according to him. Listed price is $9,900. What would you guys pick it up for?
Grasshopper, "anything too good to be true usually is". I would be asking, "it's a good looking car, why didn't the previous owner sell it privately? What's wrong with it"?
The previous owner traded it in because the dealership obtained a supercharged h/c/i c5 2002 59k miles built block, caged, built rear, built transmission and sold it for 16900 lol. I originally wanted that car but the PO of this car picked it up first day it was on the lot. This red c5 has been a local car all its life pretty much I have seen it around the last few years. He said the only thing wrong with it is driver seat is ripped.. which I saw and doors sometimes dont lock first time from the inside. So going off of what I have said about this car.. is it a good deal? This dealership sells high end luxury and muscle cars such as Hellcats, c7z, vipers.. and every once in a while they get a used car in like this.
What really matters most is that you are happy with the deal. If you like the car and the way it is set up, if the price is what you are willing to pay for it, it is a good deal. If they are asking $9900, they probably have some room to move.
Sounds like a good deal to me, especially since you have been able to speak to the previous owner. Given that he already traded it in an isn't actually selling it, there's little reason for him to lie to you.
Given that this dealer usually sells high end stuff, they probably don't care too much about making a profit on this car as it isn't in their target demographic. Someone coming into a dealer like that expecting to spend $50K+ isn't gonna leave with a 10K vette. The likely want to get rid of it.
If you like it, go for it! Of course negotiate as well

As long as it is OK mechanically and cosmetically (within acceptable reason), I'd say that's not a bad price for the car. Some nice upgrades already on the car. However, if you can get it a bit cheaper, all the better.
Thanks guys! But I think I found a better local deal! A 2000 white auto vette. CLEAN perfect interior, only mods are CAI and borla exhaust owned by an elderly man his back went out and he cant drive it anymore. NEVER been driven in the rain by him and this thing is spotless. 80k miles. Guy wants 12k obo. The last one was most likely beat on.. this one I can for sure tell has not at all.
So I got approved for the white one but man.. The interest rate is a killer because it's older.. Idk if I'm going to do it.. 8%
DEFINITELY need to shop around for financing...
I live in Michigan. I found the Vette I wanted in Texas. I figured it would be a pain to find local financing here and then try to get everything done there...so what I did was take the dealer financing. On the spot and signed papers quickly and drove off. BUT - it was at 10% Ridiculous!!
Came home and refinanced with my local credit union for 3.03%. That saved enough to keep my payment the same but cut a whole year off the loan.
I also timed the refinance close to the time when my first payment for the dealer loan was due. That way I basically got to drive it for three months before I had to shell out any $$$$.
This is through my local credit union of which I am a member and have pretty much perfect credit.. its a pretty standard rate around here for a 15 year old car.. sucks.. still may bite if I can get the car for a good price
So I got it! For less than 3% financing too from elsewhere:p Got it down to 12,000. Car is IMMACULATE. only thing is it has a service vehicle light where the miles are usually read and it seems like the trim around the HUD light has popped apart from the dash. Fiance with the car
Yeah I have been reading up on it, I will for sure and if its nothing important.. like a steering wheel posistion sensor or something I will just clear them! It also say something to do with tires.. which they were just replaced so idk
